To increase the interest of the people in botany an Englishman Dr. Kerr started a small botanical garden in this location 12 kilometers along the Mae Sa Valley in the year 1930.

The existing garden was opened in 1992 and covers a large area that includes many vegetation types including some rare species. It also encompasses research facilities, student accommodation and an information center. Its location makes it an enjoyable escape for everyone especially for nature lovers.

The Botanical Garden Organization of Thailand was established on the recommendation of the Biodiversity Board of Thailand, to be responsible for the collection of various plants and vegetation, especially rare and endangered species of native flora, for further planting and propagation.

A comprehensive botanical library provides researchers and the general public with the very latest information and the garden is in a perfect location for environmental and conservation studies. The Garden has four exhibition conservatories and eight glass houses, including a rain forest plant collection.

Hours : 9a- 5p M- Su.
